About

Hello my name is David Im. This is my blog. This is my little dusty corner of the world wide web where I will post insights, lessons and "cool things" that crosses my path.

As a point of reference (in my blog) you will mostly find musings about: life lessons (that are worth sharing), good food, good design and things on two wheels (bikes and motorcycles) and lastly - tech innovation/start up - lessons, insights titled "The Hustle."

Please do ask me anything. I am always very eager and glad to be of help.

Last Supper

I guess I was a “Bourdanian” even before I knew who he was.  I am Korean and my mother was a culinary instructor and grew up poor.  Good food was one of the few “rights” and “pleasures” we (my brother and I) felt entitled to (my brother is now a Chef). My take on food has very much the same “f___ you” perspective as many of my heros like David Chang - it is not “puzzlematic” doesn’t have to fit into a certain cube or genre - it’s good food bore (anthropologically) mostly out of necessity/need and continued eating it because it taste good and is satiating to one’s soul.  You ever wonder why Asians perspire whenever adventurously eating?

These types of eats can be found at a table of a James Beard winner or the local taco truck.  I usually prefer the local taco truck.  If only there was a decent one close to me …

Cookbooks I cooked through:

  1. Momofuko - David Chang
  2. Flour - Joanne Chang

Places I will eat before I die:

  1. French Laundry
  2. Momofuku (all of them)
  3. St. John’s
  4. El Bulli

More to come …
